  • Tattoos or dermal pigmented lesions in the treatment area
  • Open wounds or skin lesions
  • A consultation must always be booked to determine suitability for treatment. It is alsoessential to obtain an informed written consent prior to commencing treatment
  • Assign Skin Type according to Fitzpatrick Skin Scale (link to blog)
  • A thorough skin examination must be performed checking any skin irregularities, lesions, scars or client comments
  • Photographs are taken of the treatment area. If the client is wearing makeup or tinted moisturisers, this must be removed prior to taking photographs.
  • Remove any excess hair if present by shaving – for hair removal DO NOT WAX, PLUCK, EPILATE OR HAIR REMOVAL CREAM instead shave the area.
  • A Test Patch must be performed on each new treatment area.

It can be beneficial to combine IPL/laser treatment with a course of superficial peel or microdermabrasion treatments in order to obtain maximum light penetration.

Immediately after any treatment, the skin should be cooled. Cooling can improve comfort and reduce post treatment redness and/or swelling. Application of Lynton Light Soothe serum is highly recommended for its cooling and antibacterial effects.

  • Avoid sun exposure or tanning beds for four weeks following treatment.
  • Use Sun protection cream daily SPF 30+ is recommended
  • Avoid bleaching creams or perfumed products for 24 hours
  • Avoid hot baths, showers, steam rooms, saunas for 24 hours
  • Keep the area clean and dry
  • Avoid perfume, antiperspirant, deodorant and other cosmetic creams for 24 hours. Un-perfumed moisturiser can be used.
  • If the area feels hot or swollen, the use of cool packs and Lynton Light Soothe serum can improve comfort and reduce erythema and swelling
  • If blistering or crusting occurs, do not pick or scratch the treated area
  • Always contact us if any unexpected skin reaction occurs for further post treatment advice.

What to expect immediately after IPL

  • Slight discomfort
  • Mild Redness and swelling (erythema and oedema)
  • Hair removal – Small raised bumps (Follicular oedema)

If you experience the following please let us know immediately:

  • Excessive pain
  • Excessive persistent redness (erythema)
  • Excessive swelling (oedema)
  • Marks on the skin in the shape of the IPL treatment block
  • Blistering
  • Bruising

Please let us know immediately If you experience excessive pain, we will stop your treatment, cool the skin and moisturise with a cooling lotion such as Lynton Light Soothe post-laser serum.

We will then review after a minimum of 24 hours and if no adverse reaction, you may re-start treatment at a lower fluence.

Note: High discomfort levels can be due to stress, tiredness, illness, menstruation or tanned skin.

Excessive persistent erythema and discomfort normally resolves within 24 hours (though rarely can last up to 72 hours).

Apply Light Soothe Serum and/or skin protection for mild sunburn until the sensation disappears. Following vascular treatment, a bruise may appear on the treated area. It may last for up to fourteen days.

If a burn occurs:

  • We will stop the treatment
  • Cool the burn. Hold the affected area under cool running water for 20 minutes (ideal temperature is 15°C). If this is impractical, immerse the burn in cold water or cool it with cold compresses or covered ice packs changed frequently.
  • DO NOT use ice or iced water. Putting ice directly on a burn can further damage the skin.
  • Take an over-the-counter pain reliever if required. These include aspirin, ibuprofen, or paracetamol.

Late emerging reactions

  • Change of pigmentation (hyper and/or hypo pigmentation): Discontinue treatment until normal pigmentation returns, moisturise the area and protect from sun exposure with SPF30+.
  • Excessive hyperpigmentation: avoid sun exposure and use sun block for a minimum of 12 months. In addition, a bleaching cream may be applied until resolved. Typically, pigmentary changes resolve within 3 – 9 months, although rarely may take longer Prolonged itching of the treatment area: keep the area cool and apply Lynton Light Soothe post-laser serum. If itching persists or is severe, seek medical advice.

Expected clinical outcomes

Most clients will obtain excellent results. However, a few clients may gain minimal benefit from IPL or laser treatment. All potential clients should be advised that a range of results are possible and the success of the treatment cannot be guaranteed. An estimated number of treatments can be given but until treatment has commenced it is difficult to predict the clinical outcome of the procedure.

Treatment Sensation

Treatment is mildly uncomfortable and should be described as such. Depending upon pain tolerance, you may feel minimal discomfort to mild stinging or even pain. The sensation is often likened to snapping the skin with an elastic band. Active cooling of the epidermis briefly prior to treating or during treatment can be effective in reducing discomfort as well as side effects. This may be done using cool compresses or a cooling device.

Plasma skin tag removal

Ensure the area of skin around the skin tag is in tact and healthy.

It’s best not to wear any makeup or cosmetics in the area to be treated on the day of your treatment.

Clients can resume normal activities immediately after their session.

A sensation like sunburn is often observed, if clients feel particularly aware of the treatment area over the counter anti-inflammatory medication such as Paracetamol or Ibuprofen can be taken.

A carbon crust will appear at the site of the Skin Tag Removal, do not pick, peel or pull at carbon crust.

You can shower 48 hours after the removal or Cleanse the area twice daily with mild soap and lukewarm boiled water to avoid build-up of bacteria. Do not use alcohol-based cleansers or apply plasters as this can slow healing.

The area treated must be kept free of all make up, mascaras, creams and lotions other than recommended aftercare products until the crust has fallen off and the skin  has healed (approx. 48-72 hours).

There may be swelling for one to five days after treatment – recovery times are generally shorter than this. This is a normal reaction, and part of the initial stages of the skin healing & rebuilding. Typically swelling is at its worst on day 3 and will have subsided by day 5.

Clients must contact me if at any time the area becomes hot, red or shows signs of infection.

There may be occasional weeping; this is normal and part of the healing response.

Permanent make up

You will achieve much better results if you prepare your skin for your Permanent Makeup procedure. The area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated.

Anticoagulants lengthen the time it takes your blood to clot. Anti-platelet drugs, such as aspirin and Ibuprofen prevent your blood from clotting, causing the treatment area to bleed more, the pigment will be pushed out of the skin, causing a risk of over working the skin and will be less comfortable.

  • Do not drink alcohol 24 – 48 hours before your tattoo
  • Do not consume coffee before your procedure
  • Do not take any aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood)
  • Avoid oily fish, Garlic and herbal teas to avoid blood thinning.

* Please check with your GP if you are on any medication that may cause blood thinning*

Here’s how to get your skin ready your procedure:

  • Do not Perm or Tint your lashes for up to 3 days before your eyeliner procedure.
  • Ensure lash extensions have been removed completely.
  • Do not tan two weeks prior or have sunburned face
  • Do not have any type of facial/peel 2 weeks prior to treatment
  • Discontinue Vitamin A/Retinol products one month prior to treatment (these treatments thin the skin considerably).
  • Do not work out the day of the procedure (excessive oils in the skin can prevent the pigment from retaining).
  • Do not have Botox 3 weeks prior (can symmetry).

To Minimise Discomfort:

  • Try to get a good night sleep before your treatment this will help you relax and make the treatment more comfortable.
  • Drink lots of water- before and during the session – this allows the skin to accept the ink more easily, without thinning the blood.

On the day:

Have a good breakfast on the day of your treatment, this increases your stamina as treatments like Permanent Makeup burn a lot of calories.

Paracetamol reduces pain and helps reduce inflammation so if you’re worried take two before or after your treatment.

Allergies

A variety of products will come into contact with the skin during the treatment including , wax pencil, baby wipes, cling film, nitrile gloves, numbing cream, pigment. I have never seen an allergic reaction to any of these but please be prepared to declare all allergies before your treatment as I can then use an alternative product where possible.

Numbing Products

I use Pre-numb creams and numbing products throughout your treatment to ease any discomfort, this only lasts around 20-40 minutes. Soon after your treatment the area may feel sensitive or bruised. I recommend applying a dry ice pack or ice wrapped in paper towels or a tea towel to reduce any swelling and soothe the area. Paracetamol will ease any discomfort but avoid Ibuprofen for around 6 hours as this could cause the area to swell

Other things to consider:

Pigment stains – I use protective hair nets and cover you and all my equipment and couch in tissue and protective film but occasionally tiny droplets of pigment could splash on clothing and may stain, I recommend wearing dark tops where possible.

I don’t have much space in my treatment room so please limit to 1 friend or family member joining you where possible. Due to the equipment I use and contaminated waste I don’t not allow children in my treatment room.

My treatment room is cleaned before and after every procedure I consider it a sterile environment so do not allow pets (other than Assistant Dogs for disabled).

The day of the treatment:

  • Your eyes may feel puffy and bruised, I compare the feeling to that of a Stye or puffy Hay fever symptoms.
  • To reduce the swelling apply a dry cold compress.
  • Try not to touch the area or get it wet for 48hours
  • If you want to wear eye makeup or mascara it’s important to ensure it is clear of bacteria so I advise buying a new mascara, try not to apply too close to the lash roots. To remove use a cleansing wipe and pinch the lashes gently rather than rubbing your eyes.
  • Do not apply any medication or balms to your lash treatment, dry healing works best. The area should be superficially healed and settled within 3-4 days.

Additional Tips To Aid Fast Healing:

  • Take Zinc supplements to aid healing or eat foods high in zinc such as red meat and Chicken.
  • Use a fresh pillowcase.
  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of pigment and patchy healed results.
  • No facials, Botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks after treatment.
  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after procedure.
  • Wear a hat when outdoors where possible.
  • Avoid heavy sweating and long hot showers for the first 10 days.
  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days
  • Avoid swimming and chlorinated hot tubs for the first 10 days.
  • Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area until fully healed.
  • DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area.

Showering:

Limit your showers to 5 minutes so you do not create too much steam. Keep your face out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair. Your face should only be getting wet at the very last end of the shower. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

What to expect:

A day or 2 following the treatment the area will look a lot darker than anticipated, this is the initial healing stage and should only last 1-3 days, once the skin begins to heal the colour will fade sometimes it may even disappear, don’t panic as often by week 4 the pigment reappears.

But remember everyone heals differently!

REMEMBER: You are unable to donate blood for up to 12 months following Micropigmentation Procedure

Scalp micropigmentation

You will achieve much better results if you properly prepare for your micropigmentation procedure. The area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated.

Here’s how to get your skin ready your procedure

48 hours before

  • Don’t be tempted to have a drink the night before or on the day of your scalp procedure. Alcohol is a blood thinner, which means you could bleed more and the pigment may take Get pushed out.
  • Anticoagulants lengthen the time it takes your blood to clot, Anti-platelet drugs, such as aspirin and Ibuprofen prevent your blood from clotting, causing the tattoo to bleed more and be less comfortable.
  • Note: Caffeinated tea, coffee and energy drinks, garlic, oily fish, and some herbal teas can also thin the blood.
  • * Please check with your GP if you are on any medication that may cause blood thinning*

    Full Scalp Procedure

    • Full head scalp Micropigmentation always works best on closely shaved scalps, wet shaving or grade 0-2 is ideal. The longer the natural hair is the more difficult it is to blend.
    • Do not tan two weeks prior or have sunburned face
    • Do not work out the day of the procedure (excessive oils in the skin can prevent the pigment from retaining).
    • Exfoliate your scalp the night before your procedure to remove any dead skin.

    Hair Densification Procedures

    • Wash your hair on the morning of your procedure
    • Do not use oily, serum or wax products on the day of your procedure.

In order to avoid excessive bleeding which will reduce the pigment retention:

    • Do not drink alcohol 24 – 48 hours before your tattoo
    • Do not consume coffee before your procedure
    • Do not take any aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief (this thins the blood)
    • Avoid oily fish, Garlic and herbal teas to avoid blood thinning

    To Minimise Discomfort

    • Try to get a good night sleep before your treatment this will help you relax and make the treatment more comfortable.
    • Drink lots of water- before and during the session – this allows the skin to accept the ink more easily, without thinning the blood.

    On the day

    • Have a good breakfast on the day of your tattoo, this increases your stamina as getting tattooed burns a lot of calories.
    • Paracetamol reduces pain and helps reduce inflammation so if your worried take two before or after the session.
    • Bring a sugary drink or snack for your session *blood sugar levels drop when your getting tattooed so this can help you feel more comfortable during the session* this also allows you not to stop so often which can interrupt adrenaline build up, making it harder to cope.
    • Consider a distraction, music to listen to or a book or simply flicking through your phone will help. I play music and have a TV in my studio.
    • A variety of products will come into contact with the skin during the session including , wax pencil, baby wipes, cling film , nitrile gloves, numbing cream, pigment. I have never had an allergic reaction to any of these but please be prepared to declare all allergies before the session as I can then use an alternative product where possible.
    • I can use numbing products throughout your treatment to ease any discomfort, this only lasts around 20-40 minutes. Soon after your treatment the area may feel sensitive or bruised. Paracetamol will ease any discomfort but avoid Ibuprofen for around 6 hours as this could cause the area to swell.

    Other things to consider

    • Pigment stains – I use protective hair nets and cover you and all my equipment and couch in tissue and protective sheet but occasionally tiny droplets of pigment could splash on clothing and may stain, I recommend wearing dark tops where possible.
    • I don’t have much space in my treatment room so please limit to 1 friend or family member joining you where possible. Due to the equipment I use and contaminated waste I don’t not allow children in my treatment room.
    • My treatment room is cleaned before and after every procedure I consider it a sterile environment so do not allow pets (other than Assistant Digs for disabled).
    • Please note tattooing is an art form of which there are many variables, we try always to do our best and monitor as many variables as possible but ever client and every skin is different – the final outcome of any tattoo can never be guaranteed.

The day of the treatment

Scalp Micropigmentation involves individual dots of pigment into the scalp, there is hardly any blood and hardly any trauma there is very little healing or aftercare.

Avoid using any products that contain Lanolin, Petroleum or any acids.

Full Scalp Procedures

I recommend Tattoo Goo balm, Tattoo Goo aftercare lotion which contains Healix Gold and Panthenol which accelerates healing and moisturises without suffocating the skin, Tattoo Goo Cleansing Soap, and Tattoo Goo Revive with SPF50 for any tattoos and Micropigmentation.

Do not wet the treated area for 3 days after the treatment. This give the skin a chance to seal in the pigment and ensure water doesn’t dilute the pigment.

The key to ensure your procedure lasts is to minimise UV light which will fade the pigment. Ensurevylu wear a hat in strong sunlight and use strong SPF sun protection, I recommend Tattoo Goo SPF50 which has been developed especially to protect and enhance tattoos

PLEASE NOTE: You are unable to donate blood for up to 12 months following Micropigmentation Procedure

Your face should only be getting wet at the very last end of the shower. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

The second part of your procedure should be booked between 6-9 days after your first.
Once healed your Micropigmentation should last approximately 5 years dependant on your skin and lifestyle.

REMEMBER: You are unable to donate blood for up to 12 months following Micropigmentation Procedure

Plasma skin tightening

  • 1 week before your treatment start to take slow release Vitamin C and Arnica to promote healing and reduce swelling.
  • Avoid any kind of tanning (Spray tan- ning, tanning injections, sun tanning and tanning beds) for 2 to 4 weeks before your treatment. Ideally, you should try to use SPF5O to prep your skin for 2 to 4 weeks before your treatment, especially if you are naturally darker skinned.
  • Avoid any other type of procedures on the same area which you intend to have treated with Plasma such as laser therapy, chemical peels, Botox, fill- ers, as this may prevent your treatment being performed by your technician at the time you want it.
  • No facial acids (Retin A, salicylic, glycolic) 14 days before and for 21 days after Your treatment.
  • No Botox or fillers 21 days before or after treatment.
  • No Micro needling/PRP 21 days before or after treatment.
  • No laser or peels (depending on in- tensity of peel) for 90 days before or after treatment.
  • Surgical procedures like face lifts you must wait at least 9 months postop/before a Plasma treatment.

Directly after your treatment

  • You can resume normal activities immediately after your treatment.
  • A sensation like sunburn is often felt, if you feel particularly aware of the treatment area paracetamol can be taken, avoid Ibuprofen as this can increase swelling.
  • You will leave the treatment with tiny carbon dots – Do not rub, scratch, pick, peel or pull at the carbon crusts, it is essential that you wait for these to flake away naturally. If the area itches I recommend gently tapping the area with clean fingertips not nails.
  • Leave the treated area for the first 6 hours post-procedure.
  • After 6 hours, apply MicroGel 2-3 times daily using a clean cotton bud for 7-14 days post-procedure. The skin may feel slightly ‘tacky’ after application, as a result of the hydrating formula; this prevents the skin from drying out and forming a hard ‘crust’ before fully healing.
  • Continue to take Vitamin C and Arnica to promote healing and reduce swelling.

1-5 days after treatment

  • The day after treatment there may be some swelling and fluid retention, especially around the eyes. A dry cold compress is a great way to mitigate this. However, swelling is not a bad thing and is a natural part of the healing process, so don’t try to “treat” it with anything other than cold compress and only use that if you feel you really need to. The eye area is the most prone to swelling, so do expect it and allow yourself a full 24 hours to let this subside.
  • Keep the carbon dots dry for 2 days. Do not cover them with any ointment, salve, oil, lotion or any other topical application other than the aftercare provided.
  • Do not apply makeup or concealers for a minimum of two full days, preferably until the carbon dots have shed.
  • Keep the carbon dots free from clothing, towelling etc.
  • Keep the carbon dots OUT OF THE SUN
  • Only apply Membrane Postcare Gel and a medicated concealer to the treatment area
  • The area must be kept free from all cosmetics and makeup including Mascara, creams, lotions and oils other than the recommended aftercare products provided.
  • Cleanse the area twice daily with saline or cooled boiled water by gently dabbing the area (DO NOT RUB) to avoid a build up of bacteria. Do not use alcohol based cleansers or apply plasters or dressings as this can slow the healing process.
  • Expect some swelling for 1-5 days after treatment (recovery times differ depending on factors like your age and general health) this is a normal reaction and part of the initial stages of the healing and rejuvenation process. Typically expect swelling to be worse on day 2-3 and will have subsided by day 5.
  • Especially in the eye area, swelling peaks upon waking, first thing in the morning. Over the course of the first 1-3 days, it is normal for the swelling to migrate down into the under eye area. This will subside generally through day 3 and be mostly normal by day 4.
  • The area will feel hot, like a sunburn for about the first 24 hours. This is normal. The sensation should subside after through the first 24 hours and by the second day shouldn’t feel hot anymore.
  • Treatment area will feel tight both immediately after the procedure and for the first 2 to 4 days.
  • There may be some weeping, this is normal and part of your bodies natural healing.
  • You will likely experience the area feeling slightly itchy from about days 2-5.

After 5 days

  • After 10 days please ensure you apply a minimum of SPF30 daily on the treatment area to avoid pigmentation.
  • Avoid any direct sun exposure for 6 weeks
  • Around day 5 the dots will begin to shed naturally, on their own, and this will continue for around 7-10 days. Allow this shedding to happen naturally, do not encourage or force this process.
  • By day 10 your carbon dots should be gone and you can resume your usual skin care, physical activity and makeup use as normal.
  • It is very important to keep the area out of direct sunlight for 6 weeks.

Please contact me or your GP if the area becomes hot, red or shows any signs of infection.

2 review appointments must be booked after 6 weeks and again at 12 weeks.

Additional treatments can only be performed on the same area a minimum of 12 weeks prior.

Dermalux LED Phototherapy

LED Phototherapy is a clinically proven and safe treatment without discomfort or downtime however for optimum results, we recommend that you read and follow the Dermalux Pre and Post treatment advice outlined below.

Pre-Treatment Recommendations

In preparation for your LED Phototherapy treatment, all makeup and skin care products including sunscreen should be removed to allow absorption of beneficial light into the skin. For optimum results, exfoliation prior to treatment helps to remove dead skin cells which may reflect the light. For enhanced results a topical serum may be applied.

It is not necessary to remove contact lenses during the LED treatment.

Following your LED Phototherapy treatment, apply the recommended skin care products which should include an SPF protection (day time only). Your skin care consultant can give you guidance on suitability of your current skin care products during the consultation.

However if LED Phototherapy has been used in conjunction with other aesthetic procedures, specific aftercare advice should be followed.

Make-up can be applied immediately following LED Phototherapy. However, we recommend the use of mineral based or non-comedogenic formulations that allow the skin to breathe.

Drink plenty of water to maintain hydration levels and aid the lymphatic system to eliminate toxins.

In the unlikely event that any adverse reaction occurs following treatment, please contact your skin care professional within 24 hours for advice.

Xtract Tattoo Removal

You will achieve much better results if you prepare your skin for your Xtract Removal procedure.

The area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated.

Anticoagulants lengthen the time it takes your blood to clot. Anti-platelet drugs, such as aspirin and Ibuprofen prevent your blood from clotting, causing the treatment area to bleed more, a risk of over working the skin and will be less comfortable.

* Please check with your GP if you are on any medication that may cause blood thinning *

Here’s how to get your skin ready your procedure:

  • Exfoliate your brow area the night before your treatment to remove any dead skin which will help pigment retention.
  • Do not pluck, wax, thread or tint your brows for up to 3 days before your brow treatment (if applicable)
  • Do not tan two weeks prior or have sunburned face
  • Do not have any type of facial/peel 2 weeks prior to treatment(if applicable)
  • Discontinue Vitamin A/Retinol products one month prior to treatment (these treatments thin the skin considerably).
  • Do not work out the day of the procedure (excessive oils in the skin can prevent the pigment from retaining).
  • Do not have Botox 3 weeks prior (can effect symmetry).

Here’s how to get your skin ready your procedure:

To Minimise Discomfort:

  • Try to get a good night sleep before your treatment this will help you relax and make the treatment more comfortable.
  • Drink lots of water- before and during the session – this allows the skin to heal more easily, without thinning the blood.

On the day:

  • Have a good breakfast on the day of your treatment, this increases your stamina as treatments like tattoo removal burn a lot of calories.
  • Paracetamol reduces pain and helps reduce inflammation so if your worried take two before or after your treatment. Avoid Paracetamol and Ibuprofen as it can reduce inflammation and blood flow to the area which is what we want to increase for optimal healing.

Allergies

A variety of products will come into contact with the skin during the treatment including: baby wipes, cling film, nitrile gloves, numbing cream, along with the Xtract products. I have never seen an allergic reaction to any of these but please be prepared to declare all allergies before your treatment as I can then use an alternative product where possible.

Numbing Products

I use Pre-numb creams to ease any discomfort, this only lasts around 20-40 minutes. Soon after your procedure the area may feel sensitive or bruised it’s not recommended to take pain relief or apply an ice compression as we want to encourage blood flow to the area.

Other things to consider:

Product stains – I use protective hair nets and cover you and all my equipment and couch in tissue and protective film but occasionally tiny droplets of product could splash on clothing and may stain, I recommend wearing dark tops where possible.

You will have an open wound for a few days so you do not want to be out in public where there is a risk of getting an infection.

The first 2-3 weeks is critical for the healing and removal process. Keep the area(s) covered as much as possible with a thin layer of the Repair serum at all times. (Minimum of 2-3 x per day) This allows the serum to penetrate more deeply and keeps the cells more pliable, encouraging more ink to be released.

First 48 Hours:
During the first 48 hours keep the area(s) covered with Repair Serum and Tegaderm barrier film dressing. You should have a 48 hour review appointment booked to enable me to check the area and ensure it’s healing correctly.

If your skin becomes sensitive to the Tegaderm adhesive film dressing you may use a sterile non-stick or silicone bandage along with the Repair to keep it moist. Increase the application of the repair to 3-4 times per day. (There are opaque options to prevent see-through if you prefer).

It is critical to keep the area clean and dry, so intense physical activity, which can cause sweating or exposure to water must be avoided until the skin heals over or the scab falls off naturally (in approximately 2-3 weeks) Since water contains spores, Any contamination of water can cause:

  • The possibility of infection
  • Any scab to fall off before the new skin underneath has had a chance to re-form properly, which can cause scarring
  • Less ink removal

A scab will start to form in approximately 1-3 weeks depending on the size of treated area and how much it is covered.

It is critical to keep the wound covered for 2, preferably 3 weeks, during this time the chelation of the treated area will ooze and look different in colour. The ink chelation can have a yellow or greenish tint to it.

Only apply Repair serum, no makeup, lotion, ointment or any other topical products to the area until the skin is completely healed, or any scab has naturally fallen off.

Do not try to pick at the area or any scab as this can cause scarring and less ink removal.

Our aftercare products are critical to reduce the risk of scarring.

If an infection or adverse reaction occurs at the site of the treated area, contact your technician immediately and seek medical advice if necessary. Signs to look out for are expanding or travelling redness in the perimeter of the wound, increased heat and swelling. Some oozing and discolouration is expected in this process but look out for foul smell or a distinct change in the look of the fluid.

Additional Tips To Aid Fast Healing:

  • Use a fresh pillowcase
  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of pigment and patchy healed results.
  • No facials, Botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks after treatment.
  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for at least one to two weeks
  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after procedure. SPF50 should be applied to the Procedure area to reduce the risk of Hyperpigmentation
  • Wear a hat when outdoors.
  • Avoid heavy sweating and long hot showers for the 21 healing days.
  • Avoid sleeping on the procedure area for the first 10 days
  • Avoid swimming, lakes, hot tubs until the skin is completely healed
  • Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area until fully healed.
  • DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area.

Showering:

Limit your showers to 5 minutes so you do not create too much steam. Keep your face out of the water if applicable while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

What to expect:

If the treated area is below the elbow or knee, elevate for 10 minutes every 2 hours for 3 days.

After the skin is healed over, and any scab has naturally fallen off, shield the area from the sun with Xtract Block. The sun can be very damaging to new skin.

Continue to apply the Repair Serum to the area at night along with the Silicone Bandage up to 6 weeks or longer.

After the removal process is complete the skin may appear pink for approximately 1-2 years.

REMEMBER: You are unable to donate blood for up to 12 months following Tattoo Removal Procedure

Does a medical contraindication mean that treatment cannot take place?

Not always. In fact, massage therapy/ reflexology can be very therapeutic for many medical conditions. However, in the above cases it is best to have advice from your physician.
