Skin Tags, small moles and Seborrheic Keratosis are all very common skin complaints that are no longer treated by the NHS.

A skin tag is a small, soft, flesh-coloured non-cancerous skin growth. Skin tags are probably the single most common skin condition on adult skin. Skin tags are harmless but can be annoying; they commonly occur on the eyelids, neck, armpits, groin folds, and under breasts and can be painful if they catch on zips, jewellery or clothes. There’s no need to put up with them though, skin tag removal doesn’t have to be complicated!

We are cautious about removing moles as these can be early indicators of skin cancer or Melanoma, we always recommend any blemish is checked by a GP or dermatologist before we remove and on occasions we will refuse to remove a blemish if we have any concern.

Top Tip: Don’t remove skin tags yourself!

There are a few over-the-counter products that can be used to remove skin tags. These products usually work by cutting off the blood supply to the skin tag, which causes it to fall off. However, it is important to follow the instructions carefully when using these products, as they can cause irritation or infection if not used correctly.

Here are some of the risks of removing a skin tag at home:

  • Bleeding. If the skin tag is not removed properly, it can bleed.
  • Infection. If the skin tag is not cleaned properly, it can become infected.
  • Scarring. If the skin tag is removed too deeply, it can leave a scar.
