They involve using an acid solution to remove the outer layer of dead skin cells and then allowing the skin to regenerate, creating a brighter and smoother complexion. Chemical peels are usually done in a series of treatments, with lighter peels beginning with mild acids like lactic or glycolic acid and more intense treatments using stronger acids such as trichloroacetic acid or phenol.
